General Statement of Belief

As Lutherans and as a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) we believe in the Triune God. God created and loves all of creation -- the earth and the seas and all of the world’s inhabitants. We believe that God's Son, Jesus Christ, transforms lives through his death on the cross and his new life, and we trust that God's Spirit is active in the world and in us personally as followers of Christ.

We are part of God’s unfolding plan. When we gather for worship, we connect with believers everywhere. When we study the Bible or hear God’s word in worship, we are drawn more deeply into God’s own saving story.

A Little History ...                                  Old_church_2

Founded in 1896, we have serving the Lutheran community in and around the village of Somerset for over 100 years. Worship services were held in German until 1918. We are currently in our third church building, which broke ground in 1972. We added a substantial addition to our facility in 2001 as a result of a donation by several families and hands-on construction work by ‘Mission Builders’ many members of the Congregation.

Purposely built in a neighborhood, Christ Lutheran Church is within walking distance of people living in the village, and just a short drive for those living in the township.
